Serbia is seriously committed to developing renewable energy, announcing the start of construction of self-balancing solar power plants with battery systems, which is the largest investment in renewable energy in Europe this year.
The one-gigawatt project was launched after a meeting with financiers, including leading global companies and financial institutions such as US EXIM, MIGA and the Swedish Export Credit Corporation.
The Swedish Ambassador to Serbia, Annika Ben David, also attended the meeting.
The project is planned to be completed by 2028 and will bring an additional gigawatt of renewable electricity, with annual production of 1.2 terawatt-hours.
Serbia is fully committed to the green transition and economic development, attracting major European projects; last year alone it attracted €4.5 billion in foreign direct investment.
Serbia is planning GDP growth of 3.5 percent this year, which shows its stability and potential for further economic development.
